This 18th century Charleston plantation is a national landmark, as it is the only plantation house on the Ashley River to survive intact from both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. The plantation is filled with history, lowcountry botany, and Palladian architecture that is very rare to see firsthand. It is open to the public, and is very much worth a visit. The exquisite iron gate in front of the plantation is an unforgettable welcome into a place that holds years of history and wonder in Charleston.
