Fun Fishy Fact:

Koi fish can live for decades—some even surpass 100 years old! The most famous koi, named Hanako, reportedly lived to be 226 years old, making her one of the oldest known freshwater fish in history. Originally bred in Japan for their bright colors, koi fish are living works of art. Each pattern and hue has a special meaning—gold represents wealth, red for love, and blue for tranquility.

About the Art:

Working with mostly 14-16 gauge raw steel, Fred cuts, hand hammers, and welds the metal to create sea life, bringing an aquatic feel to homes, offices, and gardens. He often begins the rusting process to give a more weathered appearance and to enhance the contours and shapes of a piece. No two pieces are ever the same, (so yours is one of a kind!), and variations in color and texture add to the overall character of his work. The koifish is suitable for use both inside and outdoors. If displayed outdoors, the fish will continue to rust beautifully in the elements; but If you wish to reduce further rusting, we suggest applying a clear mat lacquer which will need to be reapplied over time.  We all know fish can swim in any direction, and if you have a preference whether he will be swimming left to right, or right to left, please email or call us!
